PNW Components, Inc., of Seattle, Washington, is conducting a voluntary recall of its Loam Pedal Gen 2 aluminum alloy mountain bike pedals. The recall was initiated due to a reported defect involving the pedal axle. The recall notice was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on January 8, 2026. The recalled pedals are available in the following colors: black, silver, green, orange, and purple. The products were sold after market through online retailers and bicycle shops. Approximately 1,200 units are affected by this recall. The pedals were sold from June 2025 through November 2025. The country of manufacture for these pedals is Taiwan.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard associated with this product is that the pedal axle can crack, causing the pedal to detach from the crank. This condition poses a fall hazard to the rider. The firm has received four reports of the pedal axle cracking and detaching from the crank. No injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Loam Pedal Gen 2 pedals. Consumers are instructed to contact PNW Components to receive free replacement axles once they become available. In the interim, PNW Components is providing consumers with the Range Pedal, free of charge. PNW Components will follow up with consumers regarding the replacement axle system, which is estimated to begin shipping out to customers on January 5, 2026.

The official remedy for this recall is a product replacement. Specifically, consumers will receive free replacement axles for the Loam Pedal Gen 2 once those axles become available. While waiting for the replacement axles, PNW Components is providing consumers with a free interim pedal, the Range Pedal. The replacement axle system is estimated to begin shipping to customers on January 5, 2026.
