On November 14, 2024, Hallmark Cards, of Kansas City, Missouri, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Tree Ornaments featuring the Cad Bane™ character from Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. The recall was issued due to mold growth on the exterior surface of the ornaments. The recall number is 25041. The firm is aware of 16 consumer reports of mold on the ornaments when removed from the box. No injuries have been reported.

Approximately 11,100 units were sold in the United States. The ornaments were sold at Hallmark Gold Crown stores nationwide and online at Hallmark.com from September 2024 through October 2024 for about $22. The product was manufactured in Sri Lanka.

The brown paint on the exterior of the recalled Christmas tree ornaments did not fully dry before packaging. This caused mold to grow on the exterior surface of the ornament. The mold poses a risk of respiratory issues to consumers due to mold exposure. The firm is aware of 16 consumer reports of the recalled tree ornaments having mold on them when they were taken out of the box. No injuries have been reported.
