1. Recall Summary

On November 21, 2024, Todson Inc., of Foxboro, Massachusetts, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of approximately 6,500 Nerf Barrage Youth Bike Helmets. The recall was initiated due to the helmets failing to comply with the retention system requirements of the mandatory federal safety regulations for bicycle helmets. The recalled products were manufactured by Jingzhou Taike Sport Equipment Co. Ltd, of China, and were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from January 2022 through May 2024 for about $30. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries had been reported.

2. Affected Products

The recall involves Nerf Barrage Youth bike helmets. The helmets are size medium (M) and feature a blue and orange exterior, black straps, and an orange buckle. The word “NERF” is printed in white lettering on the sides of the helmet. Model number 6011 is printed on a label on the inside of the helmet. The specific lot numbers (LOT

) and reference numbers (REF#) included in this recall are found on the same interior label. Only helmets with the following combinations are affected:

3. Hazard Information

The recalled helmets do not comply with the retention system requirements of the mandatory federal safety regulations for bicycle helmets. As a result, the helmets can fail to protect the wearer in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

4. Consumer Action Required

Consumers should stop using the recalled Nerf Barrage helmets immediately. To receive a refund, consumers must destroy the helmet by cutting off the straps. After destroying the helmet, consumers must take a photograph of the destroyed helmet showing the cut straps.
