Recall Summary
On March 27, 2025, LaRose Industries LLC, doing business as Cra-Z-Art, of Randolph, New Jersey, initiated a recall of approximately 224,100 units of Cra-Z-Art Gemex and Gel2Gem jewelry kits and one refill pack. The recall was issued in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall number is 25197. The products were manufactured in China and sold at Target, Marshall’s, T.J. Maxx, Joann stores, and other retailers nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, and Joann.com from January 2023 through September 2024. Prices ranged from $13 to $36, depending on the kit.

Affected Products
The recall includes 10 models of Cra-Z-Art Gemex/Gel2Gem jewelry kits and one refill pack. Each recalled kit contains a resin bottle and a UV setting light used to cure the resin. The products come in rectangular boxes labeled with the “Cra-Z-Art” brand name and either “Gemex” or “crazy gel2gem.” The following item numbers and UPC codes are printed on the bottom of the product’s box:

Hazard Information
The recalled jewelry-making kits contain a resin that, when in liquid form, can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization if inhaled, touched, or ingested. The resin contains an acrylate (hydroxyethylmethacrylate, or “HEMA”) in amounts prohibited in children’s products by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. The recall notice states that already created jewelry should be inspected to confirm it is fully cured. If any liquid or liquid residue is present, the jewelry should not be worn and should be stored away from children. Once the resin is fully cured, it no longer presents the hazard. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumer Action Required
Consumers should stop using the jewelry making kits immediately. Consumers should also inspect any jewelry already created with these kits. If the jewelry is not fully cured (i.e., if liquid or liquid residue is present), it should not be worn and should be stored away from children. Consumers should contact LaRose Industries for a full refund. LaRose is contacting all known purchasers directly.
