1. Recall Summary
TheKiddoSpace is recalling its brand of children’s fingerpainting kits. The recall was initiated on February 26, 2026, and involves approximately 9,400 units sold in the United States. The recall was prompted because the products contain hazardous substances and a regulated phthalate, violating the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and the federal phthalate ban. TheKiddoSpace has received 18 reports worldwide, including one in the United States, of strong paint odor, skin irritation, and swollen lymph nodes.
2. Affected Products
The recalled products are TheKiddoSpace-branded fingerpainting kits. Each kit consists of one round paint palette with 12, 25, or 36 colors, and one or more coloring books containing between 14 and 40 pages each. The product’s light-blue box displays the “TheKiddoSpace” logo, the words “Finger Painting Kit,” an image of a child with painted hands, and the color quantity.
The kits were sold online at TheKiddoSpaceStore.com and Amazon.com from June 2023 through February 2025 for a price between $20 and $30. The importer is SN Commerce LLC, doing business as TheKiddoSpaceStore, of Dover, Delaware. The products were manufactured in China.
3. Hazard Information
The recalled children’s fingerpainting kits contain the hazardous substances methanol and ethylene glycol. Because the kits are intended for children under 12 years of age, their composition violates the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. Additionally, the products contain a regulated phthalate, which violates the federal phthalate ban. Phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
As of the recall date, TheKiddoSpace has received 18 reports worldwide of incidents related to the product. These reports include strong paint odor, skin irritation, and swollen lymph nodes. One of these reports originated in the United States.
4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled fingerpainting kits. The kits must be taken away from children. Consumers are instructed to contact TheKiddoSpace to receive a free replacement product, including shipping. As part of the remedy process, consumers will be asked to dispose of the recalled kits according to local and state regulations. After disposal, consumers must send a photo of the disposed products to the email address info@thekiddospace.com.
5. Official Remedy
The official remedy offered by TheKiddoSpace is a refund. Consumers who participate in the recall will receive a refund for the recalled product.
