1. Recall Summary
Natural Pigments LLC, of Willits, California, is recalling approximately 860 bottles of Rublev Colours Gum Turpentine and Mineral Spirits. The recall was initiated because the bottles violate the mandatory standard for child-resistant packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The recall notice was published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on May 7, 2026.

2. Affected Products
The recalled products are bottles of Rublev Colours Gum Turpentine and Mineral Spirits. The bottles are made of amber glass and feature a beige, orange, and white label. The labels display “Rublev Colours” in white lettering. The two bottle types are marked with “Gum Turpentine”, “Distilled Spirits of Gum Turpentine” or “Mineral Spirits”, “Stoddard Solvent” printed on the bottles. Both bottles include warnings and directions for use on the white areas of the labels.

The products were sold at Blick Art Materials, Art Supply Warehouse, and Soho Art Materials stores nationwide, as well as online at NaturalPigments.com and DickBlick.com. The products were sold from approximately August 2022 through March 2026 for a price between $11 and $16.

3. Hazard Information
The gum turpentine and mineral spirits contain turpentine and low-viscosity hydrocarbons, respectively. According to the recall notice, these substances must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The bottles are not child-resistant. This poses a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately secure the recalled bottles out of sight and reach of children. Consumers must then contact Natural Pigments to receive a replacement product with child-resistant packaging or a refund. Consumers will be asked to submit a photo of the recalled product, provide contact information, and confirm disposal of the contents before receiving a replacement product with child-resistant packaging or a refund.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy offered by Natural Pigments is either a replacement product that complies with child-resistant packaging requirements or a full refund. The remedy is contingent upon the consumer submitting a photo of the recalled product, providing contact information, and confirming that the contents of the bottle have been disposed of.
