On November 7, 2024, Guava Family Inc., of Solana Beach, California, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Guava Roam First Generation three-wheel foldable strollers. The firm has received 67 reports of the brake lock disengaging and 152 reports of the brake pedal not engaging when pushed down. No injuries have been reported.

The recall involves Guava Roam First Generation three-wheel foldable strollers manufactured between July 2020 and December 2021. A stroller is considered “first generation” if its manufacture date falls within this date range. The strollers have a black frame with the “Guava” logo in gray on the frame. The seat, canopy, and storage compartment are black. The strollers measure approximately 39 inches long by 25 inches wide by 43 inches high, and weigh about 28.5 pounds. The black label on the cross bar below the seat contains “Guava Family Inc.,” the model name Roam, the model number, and the date of manufacture. Only First Generation strollers with a manufacture date between July 2020 and December 2021 are included in the recall. Approximately 8,500 units were sold in the United States. The strollers were sold online at www.guavafamily.com and www.babylist.com from August 2020 through October 2023 for between $500 and $550. The strollers were manufactured in China.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the stroller’s brakes can fail to engage or unexpectedly disengage. This poses fall and injury hazards to children.
