1. Recall Summary
This recall involves Greater Goods Digital Kitchen Scales. The recall was published on January 30, 2025, by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under Recall Number 25111. The recall is issued due to violations of Reese’s Law and federal safety regulations for consumer products containing coin batteries. The scales contain a lithium CR3032 coin battery that can be easily accessed by children, and a spare coin battery is provided in packaging that is not child-resistant. The recalled scales also lack the required warnings. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

2. Affected Products
The recalled products are Greater Goods Digital Kitchen Scales with the following model numbers: 0480, 0455, 0456, 0458, 0473, 0479, 0481, 0747, 0748, 0749, 0751, 0752, and 0754. The scales are available in gray, black, blue, green, pink, red, silver, and white colors. The Greater Goods logo is located on the top of the front panel of the scale. A sticker on the back of the scale displays the brand and model number. Each scale comes with a lithium CR3032 coin battery pre-installed and a spare CR3032 battery included in the packaging. Approximately 349,500 units were sold in the United States. The scales were manufactured in China and imported by Greater Goods LLC, of Saint Louis, Missouri. They were sold at Alexandra’s Kitchen store in Niskayuna, New York, and online at Amazon, Walmart, and Greater Goods from May 2023 through September 2024 for about $10.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled digital kitchen scales violate mandatory federal regulations for consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries. Specifically, the lithium coin battery in the scale can be easily accessed by children, and the spare coin battery provided with the product is not in child-resistant packaging, as required by Reese’s Law. The recalled scales also do not have the required warnings. These violations pose an ingestion hazard. When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death. No injuries have been reported.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately remove the battery from the digital kitchen scale and place it in an area that children cannot access. Consumers should then contact Greater Goods for information on how to receive a free recall kit. The recall kit includes a new replacement battery door that can be secured to the scale, the required labeling, and an updated instruction manual. Greater Goods, Amazon, and Walmart are contacting all known purchasers directly.

5. Official Remedy
The official remedy is a repair. Consumers will receive a free recall kit containing a new replacement battery door, required labeling, and an updated instruction manual. No refund or replacement of the scale itself is offered.
