The recall is being conducted due to a mechanical defect that can cause the primary gear for the crank shaft to fail, posing a crash hazard to the rider. The recall includes the following model year 2025 motorcycles:
– KX450 (Model Number: KX450MSFNN) – Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) from JKAKXGMCSA008598 through JKAKXGMCSA011475.
– KX450SR (Model Number: KX450PSFNN) – VIN from JKAKXGPCSA000012 through JKAKXGMCSA000971.
– KX450X (Model Number: KX450NSFNN) – VIN from JKAKXGNCSA002194 through JKAKXGNCSA003159.

The model number is located on the right side of the vehicle. The VIN is located on the right side of the frame head pipe. The motorcycles were sold at authorized Kawasaki dealers nationwide from June 2024 through March 2025 for between $10,500 and $13,600. The motorcycles were manufactured in Japan.

3. Hazard Information
The hazard identified in the recall notice is that the primary gear for the crank shaft can fail.
