On April 14, 2022, Telebrands Corp., of Fairfield, N.J., initiated a recall of approximately 183,000 units of Hempväna brand pain relief products containing lidocaine. The product name “Hempväna” and the words “Pain Relief” or “Pain Relieving” are printed in large black letters on the packaging. The UPC number appears on the bottom panel of the package for the creams, and on the label on the back of the product for the lotion.

These products were sold online at hempvana.com, amazon.com, eBay.com, walmart.com, Altmeyers.com, bedbathhome.com, fredmeyer.com, hamricks.com, hannaford.com, safeway.com, riteaid.com, cvs.com, and boscovs.com, as well as in Walmart, Altmeyers, Fred Meyer, Hamricks, Hannaford, Safeway, Rite Aid, CVS, and Boscovs stores nationwide. They were sold from April 2021 through January 2022 for approximately $20. The products were manufactured in the United States.

Hazard Information
The recalled products contain the substance lidocaine. Under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA), products containing lidocaine must be packaged in child-resistant containers. The packaging of these Hempväna products is not child resistant. If a young child swallows the contents or if the product is placed on a child’s skin, there is a risk of poisoning. As of the recall date, no injuries have been reported.

Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products. The products should be stored in a safe location out of sight and reach of young children. Consumers must not dispose of the products until they have contacted Telebrands for instructions on how to safely dispose of the recalled items.
