1. Recall Summary
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc., of Princeton, New Jersey, in cooperation with distributor The Kroger Co., of Cincinnati, Ohio, initiated a recall of Kroger brand acetaminophen over-the-counter drug. The recall was published on June 16, 2022. The recall is due to the product’s failure to meet child-resistant packaging requirements under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The recalled product was sold at Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Dillons Marketplace, Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food and Drug, Fry’s Marketplace, Fry’s Mercado, Gerbes, JayC, JayC Food Plus, King Soopers, King Soopers Fresh Fare, King Soopers Marketplace, Kroger, Kroger Fresh Fare, Kroger Marketplace, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Payless Super Market, Pick ‘n Save, Pick ‘n Save Marketplace, Smith’s, and Smith’s Marketplace stores nationwide from October 2021 through March 2022 for approximately $9. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

The recalled product is Kroger brand Acetaminophen, Extended-Release Tablets USP, 650 mg, Pain Reliever/Fever Reducer, sold in 100-count bottles. The bottle has a white continuous thread closure. The label is red, white, and gray and states “Kroger, Acetaminophen, Extended-Release Tablets USP, 650mg, Pain Reliever/Fever Reducer, 100 caplets.” The UPC number is 041260012877. The UPC number is located under the bar code on the packaging. The batch code is located at the bottom of the label on the bottle. The recalled batch codes are AC45463, AC38213, or AC30682. Approximately 34,660 units are affected by this recall.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled over-the-counter product contains the regulated substance acetaminophen, which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).
