On July 28, 2022, Aesop USA Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a recall of Aesop Post-Poo Drops and Aesop Oil Burner Blends. – Aesop Oil Burner Blends (25 mL amber glass bottles with a continuous thread closure and flow restrictor insert): Anouk (UPC 9319944000696), Beatrice (UPC 9319944000702), Catherine (UPC 9319944000689), and Isabelle (UPC 9319944016871). These aromatic oil blends are intended for use in an oil burner. Each bottle has a black and cream label with the brand name Aesop and the blend name. The UPC is located on the rear of each bottle, below the ingredients list.

The products were sold at Aesop, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and other stores nationwide and online from January 2012 through April 2022, with prices ranging from $30 to $100.

3. Hazard Information
The recalled products contain low-viscosity hydrocarbons. Under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA), such substances must be packaged in child-resistant containers. The packaging of these products is not child resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are ingested by young children. Additionally, the product labels violate the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA) by omitting mandatory information on the packaging.

The firm has received three reports of skin irritation or negative skin reaction in the United States involving the Oil Burner Blends product. No reports of medical treatment were associated with these incidents.

4. Consumer Action Required
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and store them in a safe location out of reach and sight of young children. Consumers must not return the products to stores.
