Recall Summary
On October 6, 2022, Katadyn North America Inc., of Rocklin, California, initiated a recall of Optimus Gemini Portable 2-burner Stoves. The recall was issued in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under Recall Number 23004. The recall involves approximately 1,100 units in the United States and an additional 500 units sold in Canada. The stoves were manufactured in Romania.

Affected Products
The recalled product is the Optimus Gemini Portable 2-burner Stove. The word “Optimus” is printed on the side of the unit. The stoves are black metal with silver top burner surfaces. They measure approximately 12 inches long and 4 inches wide and are designed for use with isobutane-propane fuels. The recalled stoves have serial numbers in the following ranges: RG000001 through RG006788, and RG023004 through RG023323. The serial number is printed on the black connector to the gas canister. The stoves were sold at specialty outdoor and sporting goods stores nationwide and on various websites from January 2021 through September 2022 for approximately $178.

Hazard Information
The recall notice states that the recalled stove’s gas regulator can have a tear in the seal, which can cause a gas leak. This condition poses a fire hazard. As of the date of the recall notice, no injuries had been reported in connection with this hazard.
